Client Overview

The client is a rapidly scaling Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider and e-commerce fulfillment company. They manage multiple large-scale warehouses (fulfillment centers) across the country, storing millions of SKUs for various direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands.

The Problem: The client's warehouse staff relied heavily on manual data entry and basic spreadsheets. This led to massive operational chaos: workers wasted hours physically searching for items in huge aisles, resulting in slow order dispatch. Furthermore, human errors in picking led to incorrect items being shipped to customers. The lack of real-time inventory visibility also caused frequent "out-of-stock" scenarios and dead stock accumulation.

The Requirement: They needed a robust, cloud-based Warehouse Management System (WMS) that could seamlessly integrate with handheld barcode scanners, automate inventory tracking, and optimize the entire inward (receiving) and outward (dispatch) flow.

Our Solution

We developed an enterprise-grade WMS engineered for high-volume logistics. Our technical implementation included:

  • Barcode-Driven Inventory Tracking: Every item, bin, and rack was mapped with unique QR/barcodes. Using handheld mobile scanners, workers could scan items during receiving, instantly updating the central cloud inventory in real-time.
  • Smart Put-Away & Bin Allocation: The system’s algorithm automatically guided workers to the most optimal empty rack location to store new stock, maximizing warehouse space utilization.
  • Optimized Wave Picking: When hundreds of orders arrived, the WMS grouped them intelligently (Wave/Batch Picking). It mapped the shortest walking route on the worker's device, drastically reducing the time spent walking between aisles.
  • FIFO Enforcement & Expiry Alerts: To prevent inventory spoilage, the system strictly enforced the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) rule, directing workers to pick older stock first, and triggered automated alerts for soon-to-expire goods.

The Results

The implementation of the custom WMS completely transformed the client’s fulfillment capabilities:

  • 99.9% Inventory Accuracy: Replacing manual entry with barcode scanning eliminated misplaced items and stock discrepancies entirely.
