Cross-Platform Mobile App Integrated with an Existing CMS

A powerful cross-platform mobile app seamlessly integrated with the client’s existing CMS, enabling real-time content syncing and effortless unified management.

Client Overview

The client is a prominent digital publishing and media company with a massive daily readership. For years, they successfully ran their web portal and managed thousands of articles, images, and user interactions through a highly customized, legacy Content Management System (CMS) that their internal team was very comfortable using.

The Challenge

The Problem: With over 70% of their traffic coming from mobile browsers, the client urgently needed dedicated Android and iOS apps to improve user retention and offer push notifications. However, building an entirely new backend to support these apps would cause operational chaos, forcing their content team to manage two separate databases (one for the website and one for the apps).

The Requirement: The client wanted a cost-effective mobile app solution that would directly sync with their existing CMS. They explicitly requested that their internal team should not have to learn any new software to publish content on the app.

Our Solution

We tackled this by engineering a high-performance Cross-Platform Mobile App paired with a custom API bridge. Our strategy included:

  • Cross-Platform Engineering: Instead of writing two separate codes for Android and iOS, we used a cross-platform framework (like Flutter/React Native). This allowed us to deliver both apps quickly, cutting development time and costs significantly while maintaining a smooth, native-like user experience.
  • Custom API Integration: We built a secure, high-speed API layer that acted as a bridge between the new mobile app and their old CMS. This allowed the app to instantly fetch live data, articles, and media directly from their existing database.
  • Unified Content Management: We mapped the app’s architecture to their current workflow. Anything the editorial team published, edited, or deleted on their old website CMS was automatically and instantly reflected on the mobile apps.

The Results

The smart integration strategy yielded outstanding business and operational results:

  • Massive Cost Savings: By utilizing cross-platform technology and avoiding a complete backend rebuild, we saved the client approximately 40% in overall development costs.
  • Zero Learning Curve: The client’s staff continued using their familiar CMS just as they always had. There was no extra training required , and no double-entry of data.
  • Boosted User Engagement: Within two months of launch, the apps saw over 50,000 downloads. Thanks to a better UI and push notifications, the client’s Daily Active Users (DAUs) increased by 25%.

Conclusion

By intelligently bridging modern mobile app technology with the client's existing web infrastructure, we delivered a powerful new revenue channel without disrupting their daily operations. We proved that scaling to mobile doesn't always require replacing the systems a business already relies on.
